Halloween (2018) is a real mixed bag for me. laurie strode's paranoid survivalist turn fucking rules, newcomer andi matichak is a great addition, will patton is fucking will patton so he's always great, michael's killing spree while casually strolling by trick 'r treaters is some stone cold shit and also john carpenter's score is fucking heavy dude, when allyson finds that fat loser with the pointy fence through his jaw and that electric guitar hits. BWOOOOWWWWW ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ. fucking awesome. other than the vicky & julian "alahkazam" scene, the attempted humor really does not hit and just comes off as super cringey, thanks to writer danny mcbride? still wondering why he's in the writing room for this new trilogy but alrighty then. there's also a bunch of really annoying and badly acted side characters but the worst thing of all is that dr. sartain twist, jesus fucking christ, it's REALLY stupid and unnecessary, one element too many that's stuffed into this thing. some more memorable kills and scares would have been better as well. Halloween Kills is getting absolutely shit on but maybe i'll enjoy it more than this one? this one didn't leave that much of an impression on me sadly.
