Marseille ★★★★

I find something about the films of Angela Schanelec, of which I've now seen three, oddly soothing. I don't think this is the intended response, but there's something about her assured use of camera that treats the viewer like an adult, her disinterest in driving narrative, and her lengthy takes that is my form of comfort viewing. Only caveat is here, as in ORLY, it goes disruptively big in the third act when it could have stayed small; at least here, it leads to a stunning performance moment in Maren Eggert's final speaking scene. Gotta track down THE DREAMED PATH now, but at least I've got PASSING SUMMER in the house to watch yet ...
