Public Enemies ★★★

Bizarre shifting photographic quality aside - something I'd been warned was an issue with this film, possibly exacerbated by watching on Netflix -I'm more bothered by the shifting photographic style. I seriously can't work out why some scenes are so sumptuously choreographed camerawise and others are wobble-a-go-go, and it bugs me. Bonuses, though: killer cast (great to see Depp not peacocking, Stephen Lang is always appreciated), a script that follows a natural order (unlike bloody BLACKHAT) and accrues in interest over time, a few killer shootout setpieces, and period detail rendered in lavish scope (and 'Scope, I suppose).
