Why hasn't this become the "actually it's a Christmas movie" response to DIE HARD boosters?
Anyway, pretty much as I remembered it from twenty years ago: great car chases but a bit underwhelming otherwise, although I appreciated the Melville-esque vibe in the front half a bit more. Still having trouble figuring out exactly why I'm not more excited about this, but here's one reason: the big shocking reveal about DeNiro at that end is supposed to blow your mind, but is just kind of a shrug. Also, both my wife and I remembered DeNiro doing surgery on himself, MASTER AND COMMANDER-style, but no. Nonetheless, great to see real locations, car chases with actual physics, and the like.
