The Music of Strangers: Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble ★★★

An amazing story that lacks a compelling reason for its moment in telling - the six profiled musicians (plus undoubtedly many others in the group) have between mildly interesting and insanely compelling stories, but there's no event, no reason that it's being told *now*, and so it ping pongs around because it has to. Creates some great moments for reflection, some absolutely beautiful music, totally worth immersing yourself in if you're inclined, but lacks either a compelling aesthetic or motivating force that would push it into the realm of something special.

Would've been better as a 10 hour miniseries.
