Woodstock ★★★★

As overpowering, sprawling, and eventually numbing as the real thing, only you won't need to take a shower afterwards. Stunning as a showcase of split-screen editing (a particular favourite technique of mine) and reasonably consistent in holding my interest despite highly variable levels of interest in the actual music on hand. Seen on the mighty Civic screen, an enduring testament to the power of the big screen experience, and also a stark contrast to how such a festival would be immediately demythologized and dissected in real time today.
