The Outlaw Josey Wales ★★★★½

Monumental. A man against the world, or rather a man against civilization and its bloody roots - that is until he finds some more people living at the margins of society and can finally belong again somewhere, the birth of a community that resists everything by affirming life. A film that is perfectly sustained through its diverse narrative, simultaneously allegorical in its intensified mythmaking and absurdly heartfelt with its adorned realism and dramatic precision, crowned with a masterful Eastwood performance and some of his best organized formal approaches.
