Scream ★★★★

The build-up to Scream 5 has been a long one, and for me, it was worth the wait. While Wes isn’t with us anymore, the essence of what makes this franchise so great keeps his spirit alive. BUT I think maybe Olpin and Gillett were trying a little too hard to imitate Craven.

Scream 5 is the meta-sarcastic slasher that you’d expect for this generation—the on the nose finger-pointing but also maintaining our love for Sidney, Gale and Dewey. There are plenty of twists and turns throughout. Within its two hour runtime, it has to establish a lot of prepositions, but when I finished watching it, I was ready to head back to Woodsboro again.
