When you're as old as I am, you often feel you're prepared for basically everything. My life has thus far had many high highs and an equal amount of low lows. This toughens you somewhat, at least in so far that it provides a feeling of being able to deal with most things life will throw at you.
Until your daughter comes home after her first heartbreak.
No matter what I say to her, no matter how often I try to reassure her that there will be many boys or girls that will cross her path to fall in love with, no matter how often I help wipe the tears from her eyes, nothing matches the comforting power of pure escapism that the shared enjoyment of a perfect story can provide.
Finding Nemo is just that. An animated world to escape to with a story that just works on all levels. It is good to be reminded once in a while what one of our favorite pastimes can accomplish. I'm happy there's still a place for movie magic in my life.
And thank god movies like this exist to cuddle up to.
