The Name is Bond. James Bond.

For the longest time I had no preference among the actors portraying 007, though as a kid I liked Roger Moore's films the most. More recently Daniel Craig emerged as the one I'd choose, if I had to name a favorite, while I grow less and less fond of Connery. Apparently the rampant misogyny of his Bond overlapped with the actor's personal view on acceptable behavior towards women.

Craig > Brosnan/Dalton > Moore/Connery > Lazenby

Regarding recurring characters, casting Judi Dench as M was by far the best idea the producers ever had. She brought so much ambivalence to the character, constantly struggling between getting the job done no matter what, and the consequences of her decisions for the people involved.
