I know this is an adaptation of a flannery oconnor novel, but aside from a dragging third (fourth?) act, it's nothing short of if a lynch, ken russell and John Waters movie had a baby

it's a surreal but hilarious feeling to be watching an anime and know without a shadow of a doubt it was influenced by Mike Judge.
That's not the reason to watch this though. it's fun af

Why was that retirement home nurse so sexually hot?? Why am I 100% sure Hideo Kojima lifted the confrontation between Peter and Bernard for use as the one between Solid and Liquid Snake in Metal Gear Solid (1998)? Why was a film with such an awesome ridiculous concept made into something so pedestrian for most of its runtime? The amateurish camerawork added to it though, the way it captured the city.

we all collectively have some part of us that needs a quirked up Unstable Neutrino Bitch.

"We don't want to conquer space at all. We want to expand Earth endlessly. We don't want other worlds; we want a mirror. We seek contact and will never achieve it. We are in the foolish position of a man striving for a goal he fears and doesn't want. Man needs man!"

Wow Paul Thomas Anderson Made A Movie About What It's Like To Be Me And It's Shot So Epically

an addendum to my review: This movie is so perfect in showing how demanding the world can be, if your brain works like my brain does, like Barry's brain. You keep seeing things that capture your attention wholly and just want to be left alone to your schemes. Yet time keeps moving too fast and everyone wants a piece of your…

A slow, quiet nerve-shredder about capitalism being society's horrifying demiurgical force that I have no desire to rewatch. really quite well-made and of course Paxton and Thornton hit it out of the park.

My main complaint however is.....if you're going to use rural Minnesota (very effectively) to create an oppressive atmosphere, don't make your characters sound like they're from Oklahoma. Rural Minnesotans are actually LESS likely to sound like they have southern twang than the average city folk. As much…

Don't know if it's a good or bad thing that this is my first Barker; but I definitely liked it well enough. Supernatural gory neonoir starring Scott Bakula as the detective? I'm in. The strongest points are definitely everything that goes into the film's attitude and aesthetic - the effects/costumes/props, some of the insane lines (particularly those uttered near the end of the movie by Nix, played by Daniel von Bargen). 3.5 + 0.5 stars for how many times I said "damn that's fucked up"
