    Manic. Not in a great way. Bizarrely enough it reminded me a bit of The Poseidon Adventure: Storms, all at sea and the sets. But no Shelley Winters alas.
    I'm being frivolous, but it feels a shame as I'm always looking for Brian De Palma to do well. Something about the sets, especially the ringside, the ring and the arena. Just so lacking in authenticity, for an audience extremely familiar with the main event format.

    Memories of Goodfellas hang heavy when viewing this. The first person narrator shines a spotlight upon them. Plus Ray Liotta is on hand observing ruefully. What it really lacks, despite the title cards, ("Florida 1987" etc.), is a sense of time and place. You never know quite when and where you are, despite the increasing crassness of the wardrobes, Johnny Depp's expanding paunch and a few exotic locations.

    Difficult to know where to begin. Uncle Bryn has left Barry Island and is now married with son and the most successful young barrister in the country, as evidenced by the size of their home (relatively small shed however). His heartless wife discharges the nanny/cleaner on the grounds of dementia without a thought for signposting and referral to either GP or adult services. Very poor.
