Did not vibe with this at all. The ‘mystery’ is not given any space to breathe whatsoever, with Knives Out feeling like 2+ hours of straight plotsplanation. This is made all the more tiresome by the fact that it’s not a well crafted scenario either, the outcome bleedingly obvious from the get-go. Don’t get me started on the ridiculous contrivances (vomit lies) and flaccid stabs at humour. Even Daniel Craig’s southern Poirot appropriation wears thin. What works is derivative, and what is not derivative doesn’t work. An impressive cast is wasted here. Whodunnit? Who cares.
