Derico Williams’s review published on Letterboxd:
I like most of what Snyder did here, he had his own vision of Batman and it fucking owned. But I don't think he should do Justice League. It should have someone without a personal vision for it. There will be a lot of moving parts and Snyder's own scheme would probably get in the way. That being said, aside from the political charged shit, I liked it a lot. Loved how visceral it is. There's plenty of chaos, but it's very operatic at times.
I see all the complaints of incoherence, but how else would you make this film? How else would you bring these two together to fight without the movie only being 50 mins long and not having to have prior knowledge of the comics to enjoy?
Observations: The film is riddled with post 9/11 imagery. References to Katrina. Terrorist scene that is being protected by a private American corporation. "Patriots" burning red/white/blue Superman dolls. It's jingoistic overall, but then talks about there being help for humanity in general. Conservative values being used to tear on theism.
The biggest and best observation: Clark is under fire for all the chaos he's caused, he doesn't wanna think about the consequences of actions so he tries to delfect on The Batman. Lex & Bruce projecting their insecurities onto Superman bcuz he possesses power they wish they had in the moments they were victimized
