The Meaning of Life ★★★

I... haven't finished this, and I'm not positive I will. I can see the argument that we needed this sort of crass envelope-pushing in the early 80's to pave the way for satire-yet-to-come, but the actual 2019 laughs here are few and far between. I think a good percentage of the jokes here are just the spectacle of seeing these things on such a scale (there is a huge difference, of course, between the tone here and what these guys were able to put on TV). But overall, this just reminds me of a lot of other dumb "adult" shit that I found filthy and bewildering when I was a child. What a delight to find out that it's actually just filthy and bewildering.
