Dan Nordquist’s review published on Letterboxd:
Didn't see the first one and didn't really care for this. I feel like I'm already on record here but at the risk of repeating myself: we lost something when the industry started leaning on famous-name actors rather than character specialists who have built their whole careers in animated work. That's a skill, and as much as I like Kevin Hart, Harrison Ford, and Nick Kroll (especially Nick Kroll) as screen actors, there's something they're missing.
Also there's stuff here that's wildly over-the-map in terms of kid-appropriateness. Nothing where I like dropped the remote and covered the eyes of my nine-year-old, but there's an aspect to a lot of the mid- to lower-tier animated stuff right now that's just edgy for its own sake.
