saw the first twist 10 seconds before the reveal, but saw the second one almost right after that, interesting story told beautifully, but a masterpiece it is not, still a fantastic recommendation for the right people

  • The Guilty

    ★★★★

this tour de force makes a surprising late entry to my 2018 favs list, probably liked it more than Buried and Locke

  • The Favourite

this one almost counts as mainstream and not weird by yorgos' standards, all three leads were exquisite, but olivia coleman banged the hardest

  • Minding the Gap

I loved it, clearly a very personal project to the director and I assume to a lot of the people who have seen it, it's been a great year for documentaries and this one is among my favourites

ever since I watched Deceptive Practice I was meaning to check this, Ricky Jay was THE card entertainer

this years Dunkirk, but in space and this Chazelle kid keeps delivering the goods. I love me some biopicks, especially when they don’t shy away from the imperfections of their character, but this is also quite tiring, tense and dark, neither of which I expected. The score certainly brought the number of tears above average, but maybe it’s an age thing.
Okay. Can I go outside now?

  • Cam

    ★★★★

if this was a black mirror episode, it would get so much more of the praise it deserves, considering it’s a netflix movie is a surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one. Worthy pointing out this horror-thriller is less exploitative of cam girls than most docus on subjects out there inluding the netflix one

  • Take the Ball, Pass the Ball

Take the Ball, Pass the Ball

    ★★★★

I agree with capello on pep’s barca being alongside michels/cruyff’s ajax and sacci’s milan the most influential squads in club football, I disagree with titi though. I don’t like barca, the club & was reminded why every time xavi spoke

  • Halloween

horror and especially slasher movies are not my thing, but you have to bow before John Carpenter, this movie together with The Thing are classics and a large chunk of the genre movies post '78 have his influence all over them

holy shit this was a lot better than it has the rights to be, got too real very quickly and sucked me in right from that splendid intro. Kudos for putting a proper 2018 technology movie.
