Batman ★★★½

Hyped beyond belief at the time, I remember literally queueing around the block for it. Everyone wanted to see this, and regardless of how much you liked it at the time, or now, there's no denying the impact it had, and how it set in motion the near constant stream of Batman (and the rest of his superfriends) movies ever since.
I loved Burton's gothic vision, something that has never really been recaptured (Batman Returns aside), as budget's spiralled and instalments got glossier affairs.
Keaton made for a great Batman, and Nicholson turned in a very over the top (but appropriate) performance as his nemesis. It also had an E.T. besting moment with shot of the Batplane and the moon.
A shame then that Tim Burton seems to have lost his mojo a bit recently.
