dodi’s review published on Letterboxd:
in my opinion, there are way too many world war movies still being made. but damn, now and then they do turn out to be awe-inspiring – even if hauntingly so.
there is no aspect of this rendition that didn’t impress me. from the grounded but memorable performances, through the superb sound design and cinematography, everything contributes to a chilling and resonating story about war.
there was a scene somewhere in the middle that i genuinely could not watch. out of all the gross and horrifying things i have seen in movies this year, this was the most stomach-turning and harrowing experience i had. i don’t remember if anything else made me look away like this in a long time.
this is definitely another strike in the netflix originals that deserved a theatre release list.
