    Late Night

    ★★½

It has its moments, but you just hold out hope for the entire runtime that it's going to get some teeth and actually SAY SOMETHING. The ending is unintentionally bleak, and it's unclear what the message is supposed to be for the audience, and whether Molly has grown or changed at all as a person.

    ★★★

This movie started off strong and was engaging for the most part, particularly in regards to the social dynamics of the group. It flounders, though, once it has to kick into 'horror' gear and ultimately ends on a frustratingly impersonal note for a movie which initially seemed so concerned with characterization. Feels like a horror film made by someone just trying their hand at the genre because 'how hard could it be?'

They fucked up when they cast Misty because she was so much more likeable than any of the other characters in this predictable movie. The ways they tried to make her unlikeable to the audience also felt misogynistic and outdated. Gross.

It gets 1.5 stars purely for the great performance by the lead. Everything else sucks, and making a mediocre film which will immediately make audiences think of the classic Misery is a bad idea.

This movie is unrealistic. No frat guy would be smart enough to think of saying “your body, your choice” to a feminist about her method of execution.
