The Lighthouse is an enchanting, thrilling and dare I say, homoerotic, horror film. Robert Eggers manages to craft a story so unsettling, it’s akin to being doused with ice cold water and having the chill slowly set into your bones...and the ending...the ending leaves you as delirious as man lost at sea. Willam and Robert are incredible, their chemistry is visceral, and volatile. They give career defining performances here. You never quite know how a scene with them is going to go, their acting and the script constantly keeping the audience on edge. Every aspect about this film just works, it’s so incredibly well crafted. I think...I think this...just might be a masterpiece. I’m desperate to see it again and will do as soon as possible. So should you.
