As expected from Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli, Kiki's Delivery Service is heart-warming to the core and beautifully animated. Packing in enough whimsical charm to entertain children and adults equally.
I love the seaside town setting of this film a lot and the impeccable animation does a lot to amplify the breezy atmosphere the film carries. All the characters are very likeable and adorable, Kiki in particular is an enjoyable protagonist who is amiable even in the scheme of such a low-stakes slice of life plot.
The plot itself is fairly simple at its core, following Kiki as she moves to a new town and tries to get up on her feet. I really liked the down to earth portrayal of someone moving to a new town and the struggle to fit in. It feels very genuine and slightly deceiving considering the age of the protagonist compared to the subject matter of leaving home and becoming independent.
All in all an extremely pleasant film. Has charm flowing throughout, making it a hard film to dislike and considering the plot has some worthwhile thematic content on top of the fantasy premise, it's a really great movie overall.
