originally gave this 4 1/2 stars but on a rewatch i have to bump to 5. despite the same obvious things that one might perceive as glaring unforgivable issues (the story barely makes logical sense and is more or less in service of moving through melodramatic as hell plot points) i cannot deny the visceral and deeply emotional reaction i got YET AGAIN to this film. Bjorks performance and the songs in this...i am so moved. i could not sit…

Good, but uneven and drags on for far too long. Enjoyed it but might’ve more if we didn’t just live this.

If you weren’t already talking (screaming) about Julia Ducournau then now is the TIME!!!! I am hysterically laughing about how bad this movie needs to be seen. When you say Gasper Noe, Lars Von Trier, and Darren Aronofsky are our premiere modern provocateur directors you better be shortly following it with Julia’s name. Beyond the visceral shock value is heart and incredible performances alongside a multitude of layers in its themes I’m still peeling through in my mind. If you can stomach it, this is a must see.

This is Matrix goes self-aware full-camp queer cyberpunk themed drag show at the Castro. And my god do I love it. I cannot believe how weird and wild this movie is for being a major Hollywood production. Carrie Ann Moss is the heart of this film and steals the show. It’s made with such a love that pulses through every facet of the film. It’s splattered on the wall warts and all. It doesn’t give a fuck quite frankly. It’s not without its flaws but Lana said ‘here’s YOUR matrix you little queers’ and I said ‘thank you’
