Donovan Dorrance’s review published on Letterboxd:
A dog movie that’s actually about the human. Which feels refreshing with all these borderline supernatural dog movies with the sappiest of storyboards these days. (I sound like a curmudgeon but I actually love dogs and clinched my butthole every time Lucy was offscreen for more than 5 seconds since you know SOMETHINGS gotta happen — the filmmakers clearly teasing us...)
I like when poignant/understated films masquerade as mundane. A series of problems that to anyone else might be simply mildly annoying. Or several acts of kindness that to some may be casual or forgettable.
Not so for someone in Wendy’s position. And that perspective is a reminder of how small gestures can be the tender mercies that others down-on-their-luck might need.
