I love how much of the film is just conversations. Conversations that range from religion to parenting to the army. It’s a film about the Black experience and also a film about everything else.
At this point most of these actors have gone on to have long careers. So, it’s hard to imagine seeing it and not feeling like you already know everyone. For example, I know Laurence Fishburne and Cuba Gooding Jr are not father and son. My brain just won’t let me see that. And yet...especially towards the end of the film, I felt it.
