It’s audacious. And on a second viewing it’s easier to appreciate and enjoy that. I think you have to make a conscious choice to do so, though.
However, I still can’t connect to the leads. They remind me of 13 year olds. They talk like adults but you know they don’t really have the life experience to back that up. Is it the writing? The casting? The performances? I’m not sure, but I think if they were 5 or 10 years older it might have worked better.
Knowing that in advance I was actually much more engaged because I payed more attention to the background instead of them. I had a really good time!
