Ere I am JH’s review published on Letterboxd:
Gemini Man's action sequences are technically superb and expertly choreographed, so it's a pity that everything in between is utterly passionless. It doesn't help that the script revolves entirely around rote daddy issue tropes. Seriously, Hollywood really is run by male studio execs with poor relationships with their fathers, isn't it?
We know from Crouching Tiger and Life of Pi that Ang Lee is adept at blending human drama with hi-tech action -- so what went wrong here? The baseline should have been the intensity and urgency of Doug Liman's The Bourne Identity.
