The Quake ★★

Why ruin a potentially good disaster flick with the retrograde trope of the divorced male hero, whose wife left him due to his professional preoccupations -- only for him to be proven correct, forgiven by his ex, and then for her to be immediately killed off so he may be unencumbered for the remainder of his heroic quest. And to cap it all off with an incredibly abrupt ending, after what feels like what should have been a mid-movie set piece?
