I, Tonya

I, Tonya ★★★½

Like many have said, this movie is all over the place. The constant narration to show the differing view points was fine, but it got old for me. To the point of asking why are they doing the movie with this constantly fluctuating narrator. It adds to how the parties are all crazy, but never really helps you sympathize with Tonya's life. Personally, I found it hard to sit through Tonya's constant abuse. The couple behind me in my theater kept laughing every time Tonya would be shoved into a mirror, which is concerning because I did not see how those moments were supposed to make you laugh? Perhaps the movie did a bad job at handling the comedic relief, but I found those bits in Allison Janney's acerbic dialogue. I'm less hostile over her streak of award wins, but compared to the ~acting~ by Laurie Metcalf in Lady Bird, I just don't see this as ~the best~. Still, the movie was decent and Margot Robbie's courtroom scene? She Gillooled my heart!
