Call Me by Your Name ★★★★½

Luca Guadagnino's tender, subtle touch captures the emotional nuance in life's raw, intimate moments better than almost anyone working today. I loved everything about this film up until after Timothee Chalamet's tremendously heartbreaking phone call to his mom. I enjoyed certain aspects of the last ten or fifteen minutes (The long take of Chalamet's real time reaction to another phone conversation that bleeds into the credits is easily my favorite scene and had me bawling), but the melodramatic elements introduced for resolution's sake despite being largely withheld thus far felt cheap and really rubbed me the wrong way.
