Friday the 13th Part III

Friday the 13th Part III ★½

Steve Minor's second installment in the Friday the 13th franchise focuses almost entirely on upping the slasher violence and turning Jason into the unstoppable killing machine he's know as today rather than the clumsy burlap masked version from Part 2. Minor largely keeps the same tonal approach to Part III, but with less efficacy entertainment wise. The violence is cool and all, and definitely an improvement for the series, but Part III is ultimately a step down from II. Despite that, I still wished they would've brought Minor back fro more films since he clearly had sensibilities capable of making entertaining slasher flicks, but unfortunately, going forward, Friday the 13th seems to become journeyman central. The excessively long final girl chase that will blackout your horror cliche Bingo card is also worth noting, that was fun I suppose, though I preferred how they handled it in Part II personally.
