John Charles’s review published on Letterboxd:
The first entry in the series is overly long (the unrated version clocks in at 134 minutes) and the story is a basic collection of vampire and werewolf tropes. But really, it's all about atmosphere, blending the aesthetics of THE MATRIX with gothic horror elements, and showing off Kate Beckinsale's near-supernatural beauty. Her co-stars Scott Speedman and Shane Brolly are both pretty awful, while Michael Sheen is clearly having fun and Bill Nighy effortlessly embodies ancient undead evil. It's all utterly superficial and very cool in equal measure.
