Reeves’s review published on Letterboxd:
Rhyme & Reason is a great look at hip hop culture in the 90s when it was becoming mainstream. Lots of artists interviewed are still famous, and some have disappeared completely. Oh, and a few dead artists have prominate roles—there’s footage of Biggie, 2pac, Phife Dawg, Guru, and Heavy D, who is interviewed extensively. All of the 2pac footage appears to be from television and not filmed for the documentary. Pretty sure this was filmed at the height of the east coast vs west coast feud even though it’s only mentioned in the last five minutes. It’d be awesome if the filmmakers made a companion piece today and interviewed some of the same artists and some new artists.
