(...and these are hardly all of my favorite films...)
Another film I put off watching for almost two decades. Once again, because I had a preconceived notion of what it was like.
Except not only was I wrong in my initial take, but I was also wrong when I thought I "knew" what the film was like, and stayed even further away.
See, I thought Sparrow was a badass, ultimate dashing pirate for the longest time.

Pretty much what I expected from years of social osmosis. Very few surprises in that regard.
Great cast! Instantly clicked. A bit silly, but that fits the tone.
My only real criticism: the constant "fat oaf eating machine" characterization of Chunk got rather tiresome after a while.
And no resolution on the broken statue genitals.
This just might be my new favorite animated film.
Or at least it slots into my Top 3 with ease. This is possibly the funniest and most creative film I've seen in a long time.
The characters take almost no time to get to know and love. There's an insane energy to the film.
