Drew’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’ve run into my first rating dilemma on letterboxd.
Here’s the thing about this movie, it’s absolutely terrible. Nothing here makes any sense. Character’s motivations and personalities change scene to scene, the clear objective introduced at the beginning of the movie is completely abandoned until its randomly brought up at the end, and every decision made ignores any logic.
It’s also really charming in a way. Everyone is such an idiot in this movie that it makes the whole experience this glorious mess. The 90’s soundtrack is killer, and so is every bit of 90’s nostalgia in this thing. The funniest thing about this is that I knew nothing going in, I randomly picked it off of netflix based on the fact that it was short and about a record store. I had no idea this was such a cult classic, but now I get why. The only thing I can compare this to is Clerks, which is a movie I love for some similar reasons (although Clerks is actually a competent movie.) I have no idea what to make of this movie, it’s certainly memorable I’ll give it that.
