The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part

While the first Lego movie was surprisingly witty and charming, the second film proves that after two spin-offs (which I haven't seen) the franchise has quickly been run in the ground. So what we get is a postmodern hellscape of uninspired references for people who call themselves film geeks after having watched all of the American films made after 1990 in IMDB's Top 250.

Werner Herzog travels to Antarctica to get a peek at the lifes of people who have chosen to spend their time there. Herzog is surprisingly unobtrusive in his interviews, maybe because they actually have something to say he largely agrees with. Worth watching for the penguin walking towards certain death sceen alone.

SO WAS VON DA tells the story of the last night of an alternative club in Hamburg. The film's speed and its crew of crazy characters keep it entertaining for its better part, yet the steam runs out once the new day breaks in SO WAS VON DA and a few directing and editing choices (jump cuts especially) that are supposed to make the film feel innovative and edgy actually get a bit annoying with time.

    Avengers of Justice: Farce Wars

After thinking about it for two weeks, i think I can safely say that this is the worst film I have ever seen. There aren't even attempts at jokes in there, only drawn-out improvised dialogue scenes between miserable people. I have a hard time imagining anyone being close to content on the set. The whole film is just surrounded by an aura of failure and sadness that translates to the audience. Zero Stars.
