    Hostage House

    ★★

Susan Daniels, an inexplicably successful realtor and apparent amateur surgeon with an obsession for tiny scissors, gets more than she bargains for when she hosts an open house in the middle of nowhere (a 70-acre property with gates, fences and CCTV, where they still somehow get crept up on a lot).

Classic Hallmark-grade entertainment with the least surprising Big Bad of all-time.

Every scene gives the impression that it was their only take; why wouldn't you bother reshooting the random…

  • The Ice Road

    The Ice Road

    ★★½

Liam Neeson has a simple brother who keeps a rodent in his pocket, and yet they didn't call this Of Ice and Men.

Can't decide whether this is aimed at people who wish that Ice Road Truckers was more exciting, or at people who wish that action movies were more boring.

A comic book film that knows it's a comic book film! Neato!

That said: we've had subtitles for a century without any problems. Can we stop this new trend of making them dynamic and over-stylised please? Thanks

    Jolt

    ★★★

Two people go into a restaurant, order food and then leave, yet somehow it's everybody else who's supposed to be the assholes?

Not one for fans of subtlety, but you'll enjoy it if you like violent fantasy dream sequences, as there are about 110 of them.
