Second viewing, this time on our projector display; and as expected, slight upgrade, for that reason as well as the fact that being aware of the film's structure going in actually strengthens it a great deal for me. I also noticed The Ring (if you know, you know) -- though I actually caught it earlier, I think, than Hulot does. I did not see it at all last time; checking online I see that it's been the subject of considerable dialogue, to which I will not add for the moment. I say this every time I watch a Tati film but he really carved out a niche that nobody else can even pretend at touching.
The whole last hour is a catalog of things we can't do at the moment due to COVID-19 and while Tati is lamenting and poking fun at this world, it certainly looks enticing just now!
