Slight upgrade, now adding it to my all-time top 100. Remembered this fondly -- though my writeup of it from 2005 is aggressively cynical (it can't be film noir because noir doesn't believe in "good" and "evil"; okay dude) -- but wasn't prepared for how spectacular I would now find it. I won't be saying anything you've never heard in my attempt to write about the film, but it was such an unexpectedly transcendent experience I wanted to try.
