Justice O'Daniel’s review published on Letterboxd:
A drifting, fractured, dreamlike story following four people in the music industry's interwoven relationships. I can understand the backlash this film has received, it can be a difficult movie to watch. As Malick has moved away from more structured storytelling, this may be the tipping point. I don't know how much farther down this path he can go while maintaining some semblance of a plot or story. That's not necessarily a bad thing, and I'll always watch a new movie of his. But without some kind of guide line, he can slip too far into his more self indulgent tendencies. All that said, I still found a lot to enjoy in this movie and it will probably grow upon rewatch, even if I would like to see him turn the corner back to a more conventional approach.
