Space Jam: A New Legacy

Space Jam: A New Legacy ★½

A corporate mess of a movie. For children, it's full of references they just won't understand (at least, I hope not, no child should know what A Clockwork Orange is), and for adults, it's probably too childish and cringy to enjoy. So who is the audience for this?!

It's amazing only from a VFX viewpoint - early on, there's a collection of scenes with Looney Tunes characters placed in pre-existing Warner Bros. films, and those scenes are very well done. It's just that the rest of the movie kind of sucks. The plot isn't that good, and LeBron's acting is dreadful.

SCORE: 3/10. Eschewing stakes for one big ad for all the Warner Bros. properties from Casablanca to Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, Space Jam: A New Legacy really makes me wish for October 21st to get here faster. If these are the kind of movies that we're re-opening cinemas with, god help us all.

Big Chungus is canon now, though, so it's getting an extra half a star.
