Would be as good as most of the other reviews are saying it is if it was like, 100 minutes. Animated Spider-Man movies should not be two hours and twenty minutes long.
Melodramatic, overwrought claptrap with the worst use of Kate Bush’s This Women’s Work in history. That said, it’s melodramatic claptrap that worked on me - I cried the last 30 minutes pretty much nonstop. Thus I am duty bound to give it 3.5 stars, and a warning.
Why does this movie have jumpscares?
It’s so close. Kill the jumps. Get rid of the intertitles and subtitles, cut out the creepy cartoons. Make it about duration and amp up the locational confusion — the terror of being in an impossible space is enough. Ball says he was heavily inspired by Akerman, but he doesn’t trust himself enough to let his movie be boring. Every one of the jumpscares tears up the rhythm of the film, which works great…
Insane that the two most interesting (though not necessarily the best) blockbusters of the past 10 years have such a sizeable contingent of people that hate them! These movies are great and I hope Ripley gets to do the third one. This has TWO FASSBENDERS KISSING how does it have a 2.9
