    ★★★½

Its big, its bright, its loud, and its dumb, but more importantly it was fun! Like “the abyss” but without any pretense and only taking it self as seriously as it needs to, this movie delivers exactly what you expect and that is a good thing! It was a little better than I expected honestly, and will definetly hit my “so bad its good movie night”  or “so you want to watch a monster movie” rotations.  This movies is what all the horrid sci-fi original movies wish they were.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

I like some lf davids lynchs work, especially all of the twib peaks materials and mullholand drive. This film though, was slow, hallow, cold, and meandering. The best part was a bizzare PSA about tailgating half way through. Not recomended

    Initial reactions:
“Hereditary” left me speechless for the entire running time followed by moments of agape mouth covering and wide eyed astonishment. It was truly horrifying. FANTASTIC! This movie is funny, thoughtful, and even has some heartfelt moments. I share this one with non-horror fans and new would-be horror fans frequently. Everyone recognizes the tropes being played in the movie, and the adherence to the genre conventions as a meta-plot devise really helps engage the audience. Also, I'm a sucker for this kind of movie. Its like the pacific rim of slasher movies but also a comedy. I want to write more coherently about this, and I may next time I watch it, but for now I leave you with this, my girlfriend laughed and cried by the end. A ringing endorsement.
