The Last Black Man in San Francisco

The Last Black Man in San Francisco ★★★★★

Emile Mosseri's original score and Adam Newport-Berra's cinematography intermingle organically and about 5 minutes into the movie I couldn't feel the visuals and music as separate entities. Jimmie Fails' face contains all the world's heartbreak, anger, compassion, pain, and wisdom. I could look at it forever.

The last shot, composed of a man, a boat, an ocean, and a bridge is one of the most emotionally charged and powerful things I've ever seen. If this is Joe Talbot's first feature, I can neither imagine nor wait to find out what he's gonna do next.

Are these the people who knew him?
