eddie330’s review published on Letterboxd:
the performances range wildly between actors who are taking this film quite seriously (Bill Skarsgard), actors who are trying really hard to take this film seriously and failing miserably (Tom Holland), and actors who read the script, giggled at how overwrought it was, and leaned into the campiness to a manic degree (Robert Pattinson, of course).
like everyone else has said, RPatz's insane goofy-ass performance is the only compelling thing here. Everything else is lost in a sludge of performative grimness that's impossible to take seriously. there's an interesting kernel of an idea here of organized religion ironically turning The South into a hell on earth, but it's buried under 5 square feet of solid narm.
at least we'll always have "deeeelouuuushuns."
