This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

at least an hour of really great stuff in here, but this is a very uneven film begging to be called a masterpiece with every narrative trick and camera move it utilizes. this becomes very obvious and obnoxious as everything falls into place during and after the climax. on the other hand there is some truly gnarly imagery in here, such as a character smoking a cig while sitting on top of a toilet that is exploding with shit, which i'm sure will stick with me for a long time.

brad driving through hollywood and up into the valley to his pad early on is my favorite scene lol. quentin fuckin loves cars and that is a good trait for a director to have. i'm gonna rewatch death proof after this, there's a lot of driving in that one from what i remember. he also loves saying that sergio corbucci is the 2nd best director of spaghetti westerns, which he got al pacino to say. some of the director-surrogate wish-fulfillment…

you know what you want? three and a quarter stars. yes, that would be perfect. it will mean you're good, but not good enough to feel disappointed that you just missed out on excellence... still get enough respect, good people wanna work with you, business is good, not crazy... you're right there below the radar, where you get to mind your own business. that's a good solid life

lol how is this the first james l. brooks feature i've watched
