I discovered this film after searching for films which portrayed the Southern Praying Mantis style of kung fu. I had never realized that Lo Meng (i.e. the titular "Kid with the Golden Arms") was a practitioner and had made several films showcasing the style.

Honestly forgot how good this movie is. Ralph Macchio is charming, Pat Norita is incredible, and the whole thing feels extremely heartwarming. A classic.

That said, this is a very solid film, and there's a reason it's widely considered to be one of the best in the series.
