Mads Ej’s review published on Letterboxd:
This movie is apparently pretty iconic and considered by many to be a classic but to me it felt very dated and of low quality but still with some enjoyable bits.
The story was interesting and I liked the idea of New York being one big prison but somehow it didn’t feel like they explored the idea well enough and didn’t really do much with it. The setting looked good though, and the movie had some cool 80s vibes.
The sound effects were a bit bad and at some points it also looked like some characters lines had been dubbed. The action was alright but at some points it also looked kinda bad.
The acting and the characters were really flat and the performances were not impressive. Our main character was a boring tough guy and the villain was very forgettable too.
The movie had some cool and fun moments but was overall pretty average.
