I guess I just didn't get it.
I should stop being skeptical of Noah Baumbach's casting choices at this point. He pretty much always gets the most out of whoever he puts on screen. There's still a really inherent likeability to Adam Sandler, and it gets drawn out here. The father-daughter dynamic in this was so good and definitely the highlight. The movies the daughter made were so weird. Ben Stiller doesn't have that inherent likeability at all, but Noah Baumbach still managed to get a ton…
