the first time we see cassie her arms are spread open like they’re pinned to the booth; her head slumped, hair hiding her face. and it ends for her the same. arms wide open, face obstructed. it struck me a lot how she often felt like this religious figure more than anything else – sacrificing herself, speaking of truth, making others face it.
i’m quite conflicted on this, especially as i read through everyone else’s thoughts, but the imagery sticks with me. her fate was presented to us right there at the beginning, her endless sacrifice on display.
